My mother's greatest expression of kindness was her commitment; her greatest expression of love was her loyalty.
Today two of my daughters received birthday cards in the mail which were addressed by my mother over a year ago (she died February 2009). It made me happy to see her writing, specifically, her penmanship--the fact of her hand.
My mother was a creating writer who wrote to create connections. More than content, the act of communicating--what she called "correspondence"-- was the essence of her writing; perhaps this is why just her printing draws me.
