American Victories in the 2008 Election

President-elect Obama's victory is both authentic and representational. I want to believe that it is important to each American authentically and representationally as well.

In the early 1990s, law professor David Dominguez observed that democracy has come to mean the least we can expect of each other. What can we make of our democracy now? Change we can believe in is change we have to work for. There are limits to what civil government can and ought to aspire to, but why not hope toward those limits?
